***CHANGE IN LOCATION FOR SEPTEMBER 25 MEETING***
Next Thursday, the 25th, our meeting will be taking place on the
campus of Tennessee Wesleyan College
at the Sherman Fine Arts Building in the Glenn Lowe Dining Hall at 7:00 p.m.
The address is 201 East College St., Athens, TN. The entrance to this building is across the street from Trinity UMC. This is the same location where we had the August meeting. The topic is the Electron Microscope Image of Honey Bee Anatomy in 3D, presented by Dr. Fred Hossler, Professor at East Tennessee State University. You have probably heard several members talking about his amazing slide show that was shown at the TBA Conference last year. This is a meeting you should not miss!
We are still collecting items or monetary donations for our two baskets to donate at the TBA Fall Conference for the Silent Auction. One basket is “New Beekeepers” and the second is “Bee Novelty Items”. We had a great start with member donations at the August meeting, so please help us fill the baskets!
CBA is having a “Free” Wax Workshop to be held Saturday, November 1 at McMinn County High School in the Home Economics Classroom, from 10:00 - 12:30. You will learn about how to render beeswax and then what you can do with it. There will be stations to demonstrate making lip balm, molds, lotion bars, tealight candles and a wax bowl. If any member has some refined wax to donate for the workshop please let me know. We need to collect several pounds. This class is limited to 50 people, so you MUST CALL to register. If you would like to attend, please contact me by email or phone, Jan Stephenson (jls274@aol.com or423-457-3443)
